Thailand’s inflation has accelerated because of supply shocks caused by the nation’s flood crisis, central bank Governor Prasarn Trairatvorakul said.
“It should be short term,” Prasarn told reporters in Bangkok today. “When the flooding eases, inflation should be back to normal.”
Inflation should be in line with the central bank’s latest forecast, and monetary policy won’t take into account temporary factors affecting inflation, Prasarn said.
