Mica to Meet Wall Street Investors on Boston-Washington Rail

The chairman of the House transportation committee said he plans to meet with “Wall Street people” today to discuss investment in a proposed high- speed rail line between Boston and Washington.

U.S. Representative John Mica, a Florida Republican, spoke in an interview before a speech at the Railtrends 2011 conference in New York today. He didn’t specify with whom he would meet.

Mica reiterated he wants to remove the existing Washington- to-Boston rail line from Amtrak’s ownership and find a new operator through competitive bidding and public-private partnerships.
