India to Give 140 Billion Rupees to State Banks in Extra Budget

India plans to provide 140 billion rupees ($2.8 billion) to state-run banks in a supplementary budget, and will invest more than 30 billion rupees in State Bank of India this fiscal year, a finance ministry official told reporters in New Delhi today. He declined to be named citing government policy.
