(Corrects to show proposed ceiling for margin trading is 15 percent in second paragraph)
China’s securities regulator said it plans to raise the ceiling for short selling individual shares to 10 percent of a stock’s total market value from a previously planned 5 percent rate.
The proposal was posted on the website of the China Securities Regulatory Commission yesterday. The ceiling for margin trading will be 15 percent, according to the statement, higher than the 10 percent rate proposed in August.
The CSRC hasn’t yet said when it will start to allow short selling and margin trading for individual stocks.
