China May Start Fewer Than 10 Mln Social Housing Units in 2012

China may start construction of less than 10 million social housing units next year, China’s Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development Jiang Weixin said in a webcast today.

The investment in social housing may be higher or the same as this year, he said. China may adjust the previous five-year construction target of 36 million affordable houses, Jiang said.
