Turkey Lowers Tax on Cigarettes to 65 Percent Until End-2012

The Turkish government lowered special consumption tax on tobacco products to 65 percent until the end of 2012, according to a directive published in today’s Official Gazette in Ankara.

The tax on tobacco products was raised to 69 percent from 63 percent on Oct. 13, as part of increases that also covered alcoholic drinks, mobile phones, cars and vans.
