The acquisition, announced today in a statement on the Baker Donelson website, gives the Memphis, Tennessee-based firm its first office in Texas and marks a “major step” in the firm’s growth strategy, the statement said.
“Texas was a logical market for growth, given its economic vitality, geographic proximity and economic connection with Louisiana,” Baker Donelson Chairman Ben C. Adams said in the statement. “The timing and decision to move into Texas now just made sense for us, and with their strong reputation and solid experience, Spain Chambers is a great fit for our clients’ needs.”
Spain Chambers is a litigation practice with clients in energy and oil-field services, manufacturing, engineering, real estate, construction, health care and information, Baker Donelson said.
In addition to Texas, Baker Donelson has offices in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Washington and London. This is Baker Donelson’s second new office of the year. It opened one in April in Montgomery, Alabama.
