CWU’s Cohen Says Settlement More Likely in T-Mobile, AT&T Deal

The contested sale of Deutsche Telekom AG (DTE)’s T-Mobile USA unit to AT&T Inc. (T) is more likely to be settled out of court, Communications Workers of America President Larry Cohen said.

There is about a 60 percent chance of a settlement between the companies and the Justice Department, Cohen said in a telephone interview today. Should the case go to court, it would be 50-50 on which way the decision would go, he said.

The Justice Department sued to block the transaction on Aug. 31, saying a combination of the two companies would “substantially” reduce competition.
