Hon Hai Pays $44.9 Million for Scientific-Atlanta Mexico Unit

Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. paid $44.9 million to buy Scientific-Atlanta’s Mexico facilities through its holding companies, the Taipei-based electronics manufacturer said in an exchange filing today.

Scientific-Atlanta was acquired by Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO) in 2006, giving it that company’s set-top-box making factory in Mexico. Hon Hai agreed in July to take over the Mexico set-top- box making facilities of Cisco, the San Jose, California-based company said at the time.
