Panasonic to Start New Plant in China’s Suzhou Next Year

Panasonic Corp. (6752) will start a new factory in China to make systems used to fit electronic components in personal computers and mobile phones, the company said in a statement today.

The plant in Suzhou, eastern China, will be operated by Panasonic’s factory solutions unit from April next year, the company said in the statement, without providing an investment amount. Osaka, Japan-based Panasonic, which currently uses leased facilities in the Chinese city to make the products, plans to boost the number of employees there to 650 from 360, it said.
