China Mobile’s Wang Says Apple’s Steve Jobs ‘Defined the Future’

Wang Jianzhou, chairman of China Mobile Ltd. (941), comments on the death of Apple Inc. (AAPL) Chairman Steve Jobs.

Wang has sent a letter to Apple expressing condolences, according to an e-mailed statement today by China Mobile, the country’s biggest wireless carrier.

“Steve Jobs had an extraordinary spirit of innovation, which has won the respect of his colleagues. Under his leadership, Apple didn’t just become a popular consumer brand, but also defined the future of the industry.

“Steve Jobs’s passing is a great loss for the industry. He perfectly combined technology with practical usability, an achievement that is the goal of all practitioners in the technology and telecommunications industry.

His passion and his enthusiasm made a lasting impression on me when we met.”
