The FTSE 100 Index climbed 157.73 points, or 3.2 percent, to 5,102.17. The FTSE All-Share Index gained 2.9 percent to 2,632.35, while Ireland’s ISEQ Index rose 2.1 percent to 2,480.79.
Alliance Trust Plc (ATST) : The U.K.’s biggest closed-end investment fund said two money managers in its emerging-markets team left the company. The stock gained 2.2 percent to 317 pence.
Royal Dutch Shell Plc (RDSA) : Total SA and Royal Dutch Shell Plc plan to start drilling a second well at the BM-S-54 block in Brazil’s southeastern Santos Basin within “weeks,” Denis Palluat Besset, head of Total’s Brazil unit, said in Rio de Janeiro today. The stock gained 3.7 percent to 2,000.5 pence.
Ted Baker Plc (TED) : The London-based clothing company is scheduled to report first-half earnings. The shares fell 1.3 percent to 688 pence.
