SOUTH AFRICA DAYBOOK: Trade, Budget Deficit, Phumelela Gaming

South Africa’s trade deficit probably narrowed to 1.7 billion rand ($215 million) in August from 3.9 billion rand in the previous month, according to the median estimate of eight economists surveyed by Bloomberg.
The South African Revenue Service is due to publish the data at 2 p.m. local time on its website.
WHAT TO WATCH:
* The government probably posted a budget deficit of 5.2 billion
rand in August, according to the median estimate of five
economists surveyed by Bloomberg. The National Treasury is
scheduled to publish the data at 2 p.m. on its website.
* The South African Reserve Bank plans to sell 600 million rand
of inflation-linked bonds, known as linkers, maturing in 2022,
2028 and 2033.
MARKETS:
* The rand weakened 1.2 percent to 7.9054 per dollar at 5:43
p.m. yesterday in Johannesburg.
* The FTSE/JSE Africa All-Share Index fell 2.1 percent to
29,688.89 yesterday.
* The yield on the 13.5 percent government bond due September
2015, known to traders as the R157, rose 3 basis points to
6.9 percent late yesterday.
EQUITY MOVERS
* Accentuate Ltd. (ACE SJ): The cleaning and maintenance
company will report earnings for the year to June 30.
* Andulela Investment Holdings Ltd. (AND SJ): The investment
group reports results for the six months to June.
* Bauba Platinum Ltd. (BAU SJ): The explorer of platinum
group metals is scheduled to publish results for the year
through June.
* Cape Empowerment Ltd. (CAP SJ): The investment holding
company will release results for the six months to June 30.
* Excellerate Holdings Ltd. (EXL SJ): The provider of
cleaning and parking services reports results for the year to
June 30.
* Kaydav Group Ltd. (KDV SJ): The wood-board distributor and
wholesaler reports results for the year to June 30.
* Jubilee Platinum Plc (JBL SJ): The platinum miner releases
earnings for the 12 months to June 30.
* O-Line Holdings Ltd. (OLI SJ): The manufacturer of cable
ladders, anchors and mechanical supports will report earnings
for the year to June 30.
* Phumelela Gaming and Leisure Ltd. (PHM SJ): The organizer of
horse races and betting publishes annual earnings for the year
through July.
* Sallies Ltd. (SAL SJ): The fluorspar producer reports
earnings for the 12 months through June.
* Southern Electricity Company Ltd. (SLO SJ): The company
that manages and maintains electricity networks in southern
Namibia reports results for the year through June.
* Sovereign Food Investments Ltd. (SOV SJ): The poultry
producer releases results for the six months to Aug. 31.
* Vunani Property Investment Fund Ltd. (VPF SJ): The property
investment company is scheduled to report earnings for the six
months through June.
