Qld Govt Notes Wiggins Island Terminal Reaches Financial Close

Queensland state government said the A$2.5 billion Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal has reached financial close. The privately funded project will create more than 900 jobs for the Gladstone region, the government said in a statement on its website.

Stage 1 of the terminal will have an annual capacity of 27 million tons from eight coal producers, with the first shipments expected in 2014-15, the statement said.
