Madeira Region Has Debt of 6.3 Billion Euros, Economico Reports

An audit of the accounts of Madeira shows the Portuguese island region has debt of 6.3 billion euros ($8.5 billion), Diario Economico reported, citing an unidentified person close to the process.
That figure includes 275 million euros of debt of municipalities in the region, and debt of about 200 million euros from ANAM, the region’s airport management company, the Portuguese newspaper said.
