Astino, Jaya Tiasa, OSK, RHB, Tenaga: Malaysia Equity Preview
Shares of the following companies may have unusual moves in Malaysia trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the previous close, unless stated otherwise.
Malaysia’s FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBMKLCI) Index rose 1.2 percent to 1,387.46.
Astino Bhd. (ASTI) : The maker of metal roof sheets and doors said net income in the fourth quarter ended July 31 surged to 15.1 million ringgit ($4.7 million) from 1.37 million ringgit a year earlier, according to a stock exchange filing. The company proposed a dividend of 1 treasury share for every 20 existing shares held, it said. Astino was unchanged at 69 sen.
Gamuda Bhd. (GAM) : The construction and property group’s profit in the fourth quarter ended July 31 rose 46 percent to 126.2 million ringgit, according to a stock exchange filing. Gamuda rose 0.4 percent to 2.87 ringgit.
Goldis Bhd. (GOLD) : The investment group with interests in property and water treatment said profit in the second quarter ended July 31 rose 74 percent from a year earlier to 17.8 million ringgit, according to a stock exchange statement. Goldis was unchanged at 1.60 ringgit.
Jaya Tiasa Holdings Bhd. (JT) : The timber producer and oil palm planter’s net income in the first quarter ended July 31 more than doubled to 55.9 million ringgit from 22.5 million ringgit a year earlier, according to a stock exchange filing. Jaya rose 4.2 percent to 5.26 ringgit.
RHB Capital Bhd. (RHBC) : Malaysia’s fifth-biggest banking group by market value has sought central bank approval to start talks to merge its businesses with OSK Holdings Bhd. (OSK) , a brokerage and investment banking group, according to a company statement. RHB rose 0.7 percent to 7.16 ringgit. OSK gained 4.5 percent to 1.39 ringgit.
Selangor Properties Bhd. (SPR) : The Malaysian property developer’s profit in the third quarter ended July 31 quadrupled from a year earlier to 31.6 million ringgit, it said in a statement. The stock fell 1.6 percent to 3.07 ringgit.
Tenaga Nasional Bhd. (TNB) : The Malaysian state- controlled power producer said it has no knowledge of any proposal to split the company into smaller units, as reported in the Star newspaper on Sept. 28. Tenaga rose 2.8 percent to 5.18 ringgit.
