VimpelCom CEO Lunder Says Debt Is ‘Sustainable,’ Sole Reports

VimpelCom Ltd. (VIP) Chief Executive Officer Jo Lunder said the company’s debt is “absolutely sustainable,” daily Il Sole 24 Ore reported.

Vimpelcom said its goal is to bring debt to earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization, which currently stands at about 2.5 times, below 2 times in the next three years, Lunder said in the interview.

Asked whether the Italian unit Wind Telecomunicazioni SpA would be interested in the acquisition of rivals including Fastweb SpA and Tiscali SpA (TIS), Lunder said that there will be a consolidation in the Italian market. “We’ll take part in this process,” the CEO told Il Sole. “If there were opportunities to create value for shareholders with an acquisition we would consider it.”
