Hungary to Keep Telecommunications Tax Despite EU Call to End It

Hungary’s government will maintain a special tax levied on telecommunications companies despite a European Commission request to abolish the levy.

There’s “no reason” for the government to end the tax and Hungary is ready to face the dispute in the EU Court of Justice, Peter Szijjarto, spokesman for Prime Minister Viktor Orban, said in an e-mailed statement today.
