Galvin Brothers Garner U.K. Chefs’ Award for City Restaurant
Chris and Jeff Galvin, the brothers behind the City restaurant Galvin La Chapelle, were last night named Chefs’ Chef of the Year at the AA Hospitality Awards. Terroirs won Restaurant of the Year, London.
The Galvins worked in London and New York before opening their first venue, Galvin Bistrot Deluxe, in 2005. Galvin La Chapelle, in Spitalfields market, won best restaurant last year.
“We are thrilled to be the Chefs’ Chefs,” Chris Galvin said at the awards, where Pierre Gagnaire served dinner for 700 guests. “Winning this award means everything to us.”
The AA, which started life in 1905 as the U.K. Automobile Association, provides breakdown, insurance and other services to motorists. The awards, at the Hilton, Park Lane, mark publication of the 2012 AA guides to hotels and restaurants.
