Ivory Coast to Plant 300,000 Hectares With Rubber, AIP Reports

Ivory Coast plans to plant as much as 300,000 hectares (741,320 acres) with rubber trees by 2020, Agence de Presse Ivoirienne reported, citing Kouadio Dian, an official at the country’s Rubber Development Fund.

The West African nation plans to boost rubber output to 600,000 metric tons a year by 2020, the Abidjan-based news agency said. Ivory Coast produced 231,500 tons last year and aims to produce 244,500 tons in 2011, the Ministry of Finance said on Sept. 6.
