Olam Ghana Begins Lending Money to Cocoa Farmers, Graphic Says
Olam International Ltd. (OLAM)’s Ghanaian unit, the third-largest cocoa buyer in the West African nation, started lending money directly to farmers to help them treat crops and expand their farms, the Graphic reported.
The project, which lends the money without interest, has so far lent about 120,000 farmers a combined 1 million cedis ($640,000), the Accra-based newspaper said, citing Eric Asare Botwe, head of licensed buying companies at Olam.
