Zain Saudi 4G Services to Cover Kingdom By End 2012, COO Says
Zain Saudi Arabia, a unit of Mobile Telecommunications Co. of Kuwait, said its fourth-generation wireless service will cover all of Saudi Arabia by the end of 2012.
Zain Saudi started today the high-speed mobile Internet network service in the three main cities of Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam, Ahmed Alfaifi, chief operating officer, said at a news conference in Riyadh today.
Alfaifi said he expects the service to help increase existing customers’ data usage and may attract new subscribers. The technology allows customers to use enterprise applications, online gaming and high-definition video streaming. Saudi Arabia had 11.4 million Internet users at the end of 2010, according to a report by the country’s Communications and Information Technology Commission.
