Biocon Ltd. (BIOS), India’s biggest biotechnology company, expects its Malaysia plant to be fully operational by early 2014, Chairman Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw said in an interview in Kuala Lumpur today.
The plant, in Malaysia’s southern Johor state, will initially manufacture insulin and help guarantee global supply to Pfizer Inc. (PFE), she said. The Bangalore-based group aims to double its share of India’s insulin market to 30 percent, Mazumdar-Shaw said.
