Thailand Stocks: BEC World, Thai Vegetable Oil, Thoresen Thai

Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Thailand trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the 4:30 p.m. close in Bangkok.

The SET Index rose for a third day, gaining 3.49 points, or 0.3 percent, to 1,072.21.

BEC World Pcl (BEC) , a television broadcaster, jumped 7.9 percent to 44.25 baht, the highest close since July 1996, when Bloomberg began collecting the data. The company was rated “outperform” in new coverage by Karim Salamatian, an analyst at Credit Suisse Group AG, which cited the prospects for “positive earnings and dividend surprises.” The brokerage has a share-price estimate of 52 baht.

Thai Vegetable Oil Pcl (TVO) , a producer of cooking oil, climbed 1.2 percent to 24.6 baht. The company will pay a dividend of 0.60 baht a share, it said in a regulatory filing.

Thoresen Thai Agencies Pcl (TTA) , a dry-bulk shipping company, slipped 1 percent to 19.5 baht. The Baltic Dry Index, a measure of shipping costs for commodities, dropped 1.3 percent yesterday, the first decline in six days, according to the Baltic Exchange in London.
