Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Thailand trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the 4:30 p.m. close in Bangkok.
The SET Index rose for a second day, gaining 13.12 points, or 1.2 percent, to 1,068.72.
Bulk carriers: Precious Shipping Pcl (PSL) , Thailand’s biggest shipping company by market value, climbed 2.3 percent to 18.10 baht, the highest close since Aug. 5. Thoresen Thai Agencies Pcl (TTA) added 1.5 percent to 19.8 baht.
Berli Jucker Pcl (BJC) , a Thai trading company controlled by billionaire Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi, gained 2.2 percent to 23.8 baht, the largest increase since Aug. 16. The company’s so-called free float rose to 26.3 percent of total registered shares as of Aug. 30, compared with the previous level of 16.5 percent, it said in a regulatory filing today.
PTT Pcl (PTT) , Thailand’s biggest energy company, rose 1.6 percent to 324 baht, the first advance in four days. PTT signed one-year contracts to buy a total of 1 million metric tons of liquefied natural gas from two suppliers, to be delivered to the country through June next year, Wichai Pornkeratiwat, the company’s senior executive vice president, said by phone today, without naming them.
