Brazil Prosecutor Challenges Soccer World Cup Budget Rules, Folha Reports

Brazil’s Chief Federal Prosecutor Roberto Gurgel plans a Supreme Court challenge to new rules allowing preliminary budgets for projects linked to the 2014 soccer World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games to be kept secret during the auction phase, Folha de S. Paulo reported.

Gurgel’s aim is to prevent the rules from leading to unnecessary public spending, Folha cited him as saying.
