Samantha Stosur Defeats Kirilenko After 32-Point Tiebreaker Sets a Record

Samantha Stosur defeated Maria Kirilenko to reach the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open in a match that featured the longest tiebreaker in women’s Grand Slam history.
Stosur, the ninth seed from Australia, won 6-2, 6-7 (15-17), 6-3 against Kirilenko, the 25th seed from Russia -- finishing up the 2-hour, 37-minute contest on her eighth match point.
Stosur wasted five match points in the 32-point tiebreaker, which Kirilenko won on her sixth set point.
