Angola President Picks Manuel Vicente as Successor, Jornal says

Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos has picked Manuel Vicente, chairman of state-owned oil company Sonangol EP, as his successor, weekly newspaper Novo Jornal reported today, citing an unidentified person in the ruling party.

Dos Santos, who has ruled Africa’s second-biggest oil producer for over three decades, is to step down either before next year’s general election or one year after the vote, according to the Luanda-based newspaper.
