Compal Electronics Inc. (2324) : The Taiwanese laptop-maker posted NT$3.2 billion ($110 million) in second-quarter net income, it said in a statement. The average of 15 analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg was for profit of NT$3.5 billion. The stock rose 4.4 percent to NT$31.10.
DMCI Holdings Inc. (DMC) : The property unit of the largest Philippine construction company may book 18 billion pesos ($425 million) in sales this year, driven by consumers’ “positive response” to its projects, DMCI said in a stock-exchange filing. The company said unit DMCI Project Developers Inc. is “on track to reach” its sales target of 20 billion pesos to 22 billion pesos in 2012 “assuming the market condition remains the same or improves.” The stock gained 1.3 percent to 40.25 pesos.
Formosa Petrochemical Corp. (6505) : The Taiwanese refiner of crude oil signed loans worth $900 million, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The facility matures in August 2014 and proceeds will be used for working capital, the data show. The stock increased 0.1 percent to NT$84.60.
Greenergy Holdings Inc. (GREEN) : The Manila-based company will form a joint venture with China’s Tianjin Tianbao Investment and Development Corp. that will invest at least $1.3 billion in Philippine wind energy projects over a 10-year period, a stock-exchange filing showed. The venture will invest up to $200 million within the first two years, Greenergy said. The stock jumped 11 percent to 1.1 centavo.
Independence Group NL (IGO) : The Australian miner and explorer of gold and nickel reported full-year net income of A$5.5 million ($5.9 million), according to a regulatory filing. The stock declined 0.9 percent to A$5.47.
Jollibee Foods Corp. (JFC) : Profit at the largest Philippine restaurant operator may rise in the second half after a decline in the first semester of the year, Chairman Tony Tan Caktiong. The company plans to open at least 100 new stores in China next year and is “open” to overseas and local acquisitions, he said. The stock rose 2.4 percent to 87 pesos.
Pancake House Inc. (GLO) : The Manila-based company signed an agreement to acquire pizza brand Yellow Cab for 800 million pesos, Chairman Martin Lorenzo said. The stock was unchanged at 9 pesos on Aug. 15.
Quanta Computer Inc. (2382) : The world’s largest laptop maker posted second-quarter net income of NT$5.4 billion, the Taoyuan, Taiwan-based company said in a statement. That matched the average of 14 analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg. The stock gained 1.9 percent to NT$58.70.
Samsung Electronics Co. (005930) : Apple Inc.’s biggest competitor will reorganize its liquid-crystal display division to strengthen competitiveness amid increasing uncertainties in the industry, the company said in an e-mailed statement. The stock rose 0.3 percent to 744,000 won.
Shimao Property Holdings Ltd. (813) : The property developer said first-half net income rose to 3.3 billion yuan ($517 million) from 2.1 billion yuan a year earlier, according to a statement to the Hong Kong stock exchange. The stock climbed 4.6 percent to HK$8.19.
