Societe Generale (GLE) SA, France’s second-largest bank, hired Michael Haigh as managing director and global head of commodities research based in New York, according to the bank.
Haigh is returning to the bank where he was a senior commodity strategist from 2007 to 2009. Jim Galvin, a spokesman in New York, confirmed the appointment in an e-mailed response to Bloomberg News. Haigh declined to comment.
Haigh left the same role at Standard Chartered Plc in Singapore earlier this year. He also worked for hedge-fund firm K2 Advisors LLC in New York.
