Ghana 2010-11 Cocoa Harvest Reaches Record High of 1 Million Metric Tons

Ghanaian cocoa production reached an “unprecedented” 1 million metric tons in the ongoing 2010-11 crop season, the Ghana Cocoa Board said in an e-mailed statement today.
The light, or mid, crop in the world’s second-biggest producer of the chocolate ingredient totaled 87,384 tons in the 10 weeks to Aug. 18, according to the Accra-based board.
