Four Crew Members Died in First Air Crash, Nunatsiaq News Says
The four crew members of a First Air Boeing 737 plane that crashed in the Canadian Arctic yesterday were among the 12 fatalities, Nunatsiaq News reported.
First Air isn’t releasing names of the dead or details about passengers, Nunatsiaq News, based in Iqaluit, Nunavut, said on its Web site, citing a statement by Chris Ferris, First Air’s vice president of marketing and sales. Ferris, who spoke to reporters at the company’s office in Kanata, near Ottawa, said the cause of the accident isn’t known, Nunatsiaq News said.
First Air said yesterday 12 people were killed in the crash near Resolute Bay, about 2,100 miles northwest of Montreal. Three survivors are in stable condition the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said in an e-mailed statement.
