Harry Kewell Signs With Australian A-League Soccer Club Melbourne Victory

Socceroos forward Harry Kewell, a former Liverpool and Leeds player, has signed with Australian A- League side Melbourne Victory.

Kewell will begin playing for the team this season, the Melbourne club said in a statement on its website today. The A- League 2011/2012 season begins in October.

The 32-year-old Kewell, an attacking midfielder who can also play as a striker, was out of contract after being released by Turkish club Galatasaray. He’s scored 16 goals in 53 appearances for Australia’s national team.

“It has always been my ambition to play in my home country and I am very pleased to have that opportunity by playing for Melbourne Victory,” Kewell said in the statement.
