Anglo, Evraz, Exxaro, Grindrod, Northam: South Africa Stock Market Preview

The following stocks may rise or fall in South Africa. Symbols are in parentheses and prices are from the last close.

The FTSE/JSE Africa All Share Index gained for the fifth day in six, rising 191.45, or 0.6 percent, to 30,178.72 by the 5 p.m. close in Johannesburg.

Anglo American Platinum Ltd. (AMS SJ): The world’s largest platinum producer resumes wage talks with the National Union of Mineworkers. The stock gained 10.46 rand, or 1.9 percent, to 561.96 rand.

Evraz Highveld Steel and Vanadium Ltd. (EHS) : The steelmaker reported profit of 86 million rand ($12 million) in the first half from a loss of 144 million rand a year earlier. The stock fell 1 cent, or less than 0.1 percent, to 43.99 rand.

Exxaro Resources Ltd. (EXX) : The coal producer releases first-half earnings. The stock gained 1.01 rand, or 0.6 percent, to 177.52.

Fortress Income Fund Ltd. (FFA) : The fund’s total distributions for the year through June 30 rose to 114,27 cents from 79,72 cents a year earlier. The stock was unchanged at 11.79 rand.

Grindrod Ltd. (GND) : The shipping company publishes first-half earnings. The stock increased 35 cents, or 2.6 percent, to 13.80 rand.

Northam Platinum Ltd. (NHM) : The platinum producer releases earnings for the year through June. Northam gained 18 cents, or 0.5 percent, to 34.80 rand.

RGT Smart (RGT) Market Intelligence Ltd. (RGT SJ): The provider of market analysis said Cliff Reed resigned as financial director. RGT was unchanged at 16 cents.
