U.K. stocks erased losses, led by a rebound in mining companies.
The FTSE 100 Index rose 0.1 percent to 5,076.14 at 12:30 p.m. in London after earlier sinking as much as 5.5 percent. The gauge briefly fell 20 percent from its high in February.
Antofagasta Plc (ANTO) rallied 4.8 percent to 1,190 pence and Rio Tinto Group climbed 3 percent to 3,489.5 pence. Banks limited gains on the FTSE 100. Royal Bank of Scotland Group Plc (RBS) dropped 6 percent to 25.55 pence.
