The following companies’ shares may have unusual moves in European trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses.
The Stoxx Europe 600 Index fell 4.1 percent to 228.98. The Stoxx 50 Index dropped 3.6 percent to 2,199.01. The Euro Stoxx 50 Index, a benchmark measure for nations using the euro, decreased 3.7 percent to 2,286.91.
Archos (JXR) SA: The maker of tablet computers posted a first-half profit of 1.7 million euros ($2.4 million). The shares fell 8.8 percent to 7.27 euros.
Bayer AG (BAYN) and Merck KGaA (MRK) : German pharmaceutical companies must grant more than 2 billion euros in discounts on prescription drugs this year, Handelsblatt reported, citing a study from research firm IMS Health. Bayer’s shares dropped 4.1 percent to 46.73 euros, while Merck’s shares lost 4.2 percent to 64.80 euros.
Bureau Veritas SA (BVI) : The consulting-services provider said it acquired Civil-Aid Technoclinic Pty, an Indian provider of evaluation services for public and industrial infrastructure. The shares fell 3.9 percent to 51.59 euros.
