India May Buy 1 Million Tons of Potash From Israel Chemicals

Indian Potash Ltd., the nation’s biggest importer of the soil nutrient, may sign an agreement with Israel Chemicals Ltd. (ICL) today to buy 1 million metric tons of fertilizer, Managing Director P.S. Gahlaut said.

The fertilizer may be imported over the next eight months through March, Gahlaut said in an interview in New Delhi today. He declined to say how much the company would pay for the supplies.

Indian Potash may buy as much as 700,000 tons of potash from Jordan’s Arab Potash Co. (APOT) and K+S AG of Germany and accords may be signed next week, Gahlaut said.
