Uganda Clays Returns to Profit on Sales, Forecasts Improved Second Half

Uganda Clays Ltd. (UCL), the country’s largest producer of roofing tiles, returned to profit in the first half and forecast an improved second half.

Net income climbed to 1.2 billion shillings in the six months ended June 30 compared with a year-earlier loss of 2.6 billion shillings, the company, based at Kajjansi near the capital, Kampala, said in a statement publised in the New Vision newspaper.

Sales jumped 47 percfent to 11.9 billion shillings, it said.
