Canada’s New Democratic Party Chooses Turmel to Stand In for Ailing Layton

Canada’s New Democratic Party, the country’s largest opposition party, has chosen Nycole Turmel as interim leader.

Turmel, who spoke to reporters at a press conference in Ottawa today, is standing in for Jack Layton, who stepped aside earlier this week for health reasons. Layton said he hopes to return in September.
