Thailand Stocks: Big C, Kim Eng Securities, Precious Shipping

Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Thailand trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 4:30 p.m. in Bangkok.

The SET Index rose 3.67 points, or 0.3 percent, to 1,134.38, the highest close since August 1996.

Big C Supercenter Pcl (BIGC) , Thailand’s biggest publicly traded hypermarket store operator, climbed 5.7 percent to 121 baht, a record close. Net income in the second quarter jumped 54 percent to 1.09 billion baht ($36.7 million), the company said in a regulatory filing.

Kim Eng Securities (Thailand) Pcl (KEST TB), the country’s largest stock brokerage, gained 1.3 percent to 16.1 baht, the first increase in five days. Profit in the second quarter climbed 35 percent to 181.9 million baht.

Precious Shipping Pcl (PSL) , the biggest shipping company by market value, advanced 3 percent to 17.3 baht, the highest close since June 6. Net income in the second quarter surged 82 percent to 401.3 million baht.

Superblock Pcl (SUPER) , a producer of concrete products, dropped 3.9 percent to 1 baht, falling for the first time in eight days. Two major shareholders who hold a combined 32 percent stake received the shares back from creditors after repaying loans, the company said in a regulatory filing. The shareholders placed stock with creditors as collateral, it said.
