Argentine Stocks: Banco Macro, BBVA Banco Frances Advance

The following companies are having unusual price changes in Argentine trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and share prices are as of 11:46 a.m. New York time.

The Merval Index rose 0.5 percent to 3,285.57.

Banco Macro SA (BMA) , Argentina’s largest lender by market value, rose 2 percent to 15 pesos. The price of Argentine dollar-denominated government bonds due in 2015 and 2033 advanced, which signals higher value for banks’ fixed-income holdings.

BBVA Banco Frances SA (FRAN) , a unit of Spain’s Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA, added 2.3 percent to 13.60 pesos.
