Mauritius’s Finance Minister Jugnauth to Hold Briefing After Resign Report
Mauritian Finance Minister Pravind Jugnauth will hold a news conference at 2 p.m. in Port Louis, the capital, said Mouvement Socialiste Militant, the political party of which he’s the leader.
Jugnauth and five other minsters from his party had resigned from the Cabinet, Radio One reported. These include Santi Bai Hanoomanjee, the minister of health, who was arrested by the Indian Ocean island nation’s anti-graft agency last week for “favoritism” in awarding a tender for a hospital.
Other ministers who left the cabinet were Tourism Minister Nandcoomar Bodha, Showkutally Soodhun, the minister of cooperatives, Leela Devi Dookun-Lutchoomun of Social Security and Civil Service Minister Ashit Gungah, Radio One said.
Mauritius’s rupee strengthened less than 0.1 percent against the dollar to 28.05 by 1:10 p.m. in Port Louis.
