Chilean Stocks: AES Gener, BCI, E-CL, Empresas CMPC and Essbio
The following companies had unusual price changes in Chilean trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 4:09 p.m. New York time.
The Ipsa index rose 0.6 percent to 4,724.80, after seven straight days of losses.
AES Gener SA (GENER) rose 0.7 percent to 285.78 pesos. Chile’s second-largest power generator by installed capacity plans to issue $475 million in bonds due 2021 to swap for $400 million in bonds due in 2014 that the company sold in 2004, according to a statement posted on the website of Chile’s securities regulator.
Banco de Credito & Inversiones (BCI CC) rose 1.8 percent to 30,144 pesos, its biggest gain in a week. Chile’s fourth-largest lender by assets sold 2 billion Mexican pesos ($170 million) in three-year floating-rate notes in Mexico, according to a statement posted on the website of Chile’s securities regulator.
E-CL SA (ECL CC) gained 0.6 percent to 1,310 pesos. The Chilean power generator, a unit of France’s GDF Suez, began operations at its 165 megawatt Andina power plant, the company said in an e-mailed statement.
Empresas CMPC SA (CMPC) increased 2.8 percent to 24,972 pesos, its steepest increase in two weeks. Spain’s Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA began coverage of Chile’s second-largest pulp exporter at “outperform” and set a price estimate of 27,751 pesos per share.
