The following companies had unusual price changes in Mexico trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 4 p.m. New York time.
The IPC index rose 0.2 percent to 36,254.70.
Wal-Mart de Mexico SAB (WALMEXV MM), Latin America’s largest retailer, climbed 1.6 percent to 34.40 pesos. Grupo Elektra SA (ELEKTRA* MM), the retail and banking company controlled by billionaire Ricardo Salinas, added 2 percent to 714.81 pesos.
Industrias Penoles SAB (PE&OLES* MM), Mexico’s largest silver producer, surged 4.2 percent to 477.24 pesos. Silver futures for September delivery jumped as much as 7.6 percent to $38.34 an ounce on the Comex in New York.
