Chelsea Eyes $56 Million Moutinho After Essien Leg Injury: Soccer Roundup

Moutinho Move

Chelsea could try to sign Porto midfielder Joao Moutinho because Michael Essien faces several months out with a knee injury, the Sun reported.

Moutinho would cost 35 million pounds ($55.8 million), according to the Sun. The Blues plan to trade central defender Alex to Bayern Munich for 11 million pounds, the Sun added.

Aguero Fee

Manchester City must pay 45 million pounds to sign Atletico Madrid’s Sergio Aguero, the Daily Mail reported.

City has bid 40 million pounds for the Argentine striker, whose move to Juventus broke down on the fee, the Mail said.

Hargreaves Chance

West Bromwich Albion could offer former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves a chance to stay in the Premier League, the Daily Mirror reported.

Coach Roy Hodgson wants to offer the 30-year-old a “pay- as-you-play” deal, the Mirror said.

Samba Pursuit

Tottenham will have to pay 12 million pounds to sign Blackburn defender Chris Samba, who is also a target for Arsenal, the Daily Mirror said.

Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger considers Samba over-priced, the Mirror added.
