Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Malaysia trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the 5 p.m. close in Kuala Lumpur.
The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBMKLCI) Index rose 9.49, or 0.6 percent, to 1,591.34, a record close.
Genetec Technology Bhd. (GENE) , an industrial automated equipment maker, gained 6.3 percent to 25.5 sen, its highest close since June 20. Genetec won orders valued at 45.4 million ringgit ($15 million) from existing and new clients, it said in a statement.
Malaysian Resources Corp. (MRC MK), a property and building group, climbed 3.6 percent to 2.30 ringgit, the most since April 13. Malaysian Resources said it will be given two parcels of land in Kuala Lumpur in return for building offices, staff quarters and road upgrading works for the government under a privatization agreement. The company plans a mixed property project worth 1 billion ringgit, it said in a statement.
SapuraCrest Petroleum Bhd. (SCRES) , an oil and gas services company, advanced 3.7 percent to 4.50 ringgit, a record. The company said it’s in talks with Clough Ltd. that may result in the acquisition of the Australian company’s marine construction business.
Visdynamics Holdings Bhd. (VHB) , a semiconductor equipment maker, surged 18 percent to 35.5 sen, the highest close since April 26, after proposing a one-for-two bonus issue. The company also proposed issuing free warrants after the completion of the bonus issue, it said in a statement.
