Air France-KLM, Alcatel-Lucent, VDI Group: Europe Equity Preview

Shares of the following companies may have unusual moves in European trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses.

The Stoxx Europe 600 Index lost 0.3 percent to 274.79. The Stoxx 50 Index fell 0.1 percent to 2,581.70. The Euro Stoxx 50 Index, a benchmark measure for nations using the euro, dropped 0.6 percent to 2,832.63.

Air France-KLM (AF) Group: Europe’s largest airline plans to split its order for about 100 planes between Airbus SAS and Boeing Co., Chief Executive Officer Pierre-Henri Gourgeon told a hearing at the French national assembly. In June, several French lawmakers signed a petition putting pressure on the airline to choose Airbus aircraft over those from Boeing. The shares declined 1.1 percent to 10.80 euros.

Alcatel-Lucent SA (ALU FP): Private-equity firm Permira is bidding $1.3 billion for the telecommunications equipment maker’s enterprise telecommunications unit, Reuters reported, citing people familiar with the situation. Alcatel is still in contact with other potential buyers including Siemens Enterprise Networks, part-owned by Siemens AG, Reuters said. The shares rose 1.4 percent to 4.12 euros.

BP Plc (BP/) : Azerbaijan’s state oil producer Socar sold $485 million of bonds to the national oil wealth fund to finance the acquisition of a 1.6 percent stake in a BP-operated project in the Caspian Sea. BP’s shares dropped 1 percent to 455 pence.

Kingfisher Plc (KGF) and Home Retail Group Plc (HOME LN): Kingfisher’s B&Q home-improvement chain and Home Retail Group’s Homebase (HOME LN) stores are teaming up with the U.K. government to insulate homes as lawmakers debate incentives to boost energy-saving. Kingfisher’s stock fell 0.4 percent to 265.9 pence, while Home Retail’s shares dropped 1.5 percent to 162.5 pence.

VDI Group (ALVDI) : The safety products mail-order company reported 26.8 million euros in billings for the first half, up from 25.7 million euros a year earlier. The shares added 3.9 percent to 2.91 euros.
