The Philippine Stock Exchange Index rose 1.6 percent to 4,421.56.
Atlas Consolidated Mining & Development (AT) Corp: The company’s Carmen mine shipped $24.54 million of copper and gold last month, a stock exchange filing showed. The shares climbed 1.7 percent to 21.60 pesos.
Globe Telecom Inc. (GLO) : The nation’s second-largest provider of mobile phone services supports a government plan to cut interconnection fees, or charges collected from consumers reaching users in other networks, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported, citing Froilan Castelo, a counsel at Globe. Castelo couldn’t be reached in his office for comment.
The stock gained 0.2 percent to 887 pesos. Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (TEL) , owner of the nation’s biggest provider of mobile phone services, increased 0.7 percent to 2,396 pesos.
Splash Corp. (SPH) : The maker of whitening soap bought back 4.52 million shares at 2.20 pesos, a stock-exchange filing showed. The stock was unchanged at 2.22 pesos.
