Shinawatra Family Stocks Jump After Thaksin’s Sister Wins Thai Election

Companies linked to the family of Thaksin Shinawatra rose in Bangkok trading after his sister, Yingluck, won a majority in yesterday’s election.

SC Asset Pcl and M Link Asia Corp., which are controlled by Yingluck’s family, surged 12 percent and 20 percent respectively as of 10:01 a.m. local time.

Shin Corp. Pcl, Advanced Info Service Pcl and Thaicom Pcl, Thai telecommunication companies formerly controlled by Yingluck’s family, also jumped.

Shin gained 5.3 percent to 34.5 baht. Advanced Info rose 5.8 percent to 110 baht. Thaicom Pcl increased 5.2 percent to 9.1 baht.
