South African Police Commissioners’ Homes Burgled This Weekend, SAPA Says

Former South African Police Commissioner Jackie Selebi’s house in Pretoria and Gauteng province Police Commissioner Mzwandile Petros’s Johannesburg home were burgled this weekend, South Africa Press Association reported, citing a police spokesman.

The incidents weren’t related, Lieutenant Colonel Tshisikhawe Ndou said, according to the Johannesburg-based news agency. The burglars took items including televisions from both houses, according to the report.

Burglars lifted a gate off its railing to gain entry to Selebi’s house and broke down the front door of Petros’s home, SAPA said. Petros’s wife and children were at home when the incident happened, though they weren’t hurt, the news agency reported.
